ABOUT US

A traditionally sourced 100 year old secret flavor recipe crafted by the Late Mr. Anganan Pillai along with carefully handpicked Rice, Meat, Spices & Ghee seasoned and blended to perfection and presented to you as the most authentic Kongu Culinary; we call it the ‘Covai Anganan Biriyani House Experience’ which is remarkably one of the most soul soothing experience.

The Biriyani is textured as a very mild yet brilliantly flavored and the most easily digestible healthy biriyani, without any harsh additives which is predominantly used in the biriyani industry.

Anganan Biriyani House was started by the late Mr Anganan Pillai along his wife late Mrs Unnamalai Ammal in the early summer of 1926 in his house which catered to the residents of Covai town. He then would go on to set up the Biriyani House at Variety Hall Road, Covai.

Post their time the Anganan Biriyani House in Covai was successfully run by Mr. Anganan’s son in law Mr.Kadhirvadivel along with his wife Mrs. Mangaiyarkarasi and their son Mr. Muralidharan.

The legacy of the most famous biriyani of Covai continues to be now successfully run by the great-granddaughter of Late Mr. Anganan – Mrs. Jaishree Anganan Sandeep along with her husband Mr. V. Sandeep and her partners Mr. SV Pravin Rathinam and Mr. Gaurav Kapoor.

With a family legacy of 102 years in the law—dating back to his great-grandfather’s inaugural practice in 1921—Pravin brings eighteen years of courtroom mastery across Civil, Criminal, IPR, Arbitration, Banking, Company, Environmental, Consumer and Cyber laws.

Under his stewardship as Director (Legal) & Chairperson:

  • Governance & Compliance: He architected our robust corporate governance framework, aligning stakeholders, safeguarding intellectual property (including our signature Covai Anganan biriyani recipes) and mitigating risk through bulletproof contracts and regulatory adherence.

  • Strategic Vision: Leveraging an MBA in International Business and an LL.M. in International Commercial Law, Pravin maps out our expansion roadmap—from new outlets to digital delivery—while preserving the soul of every grain of rice.

As CEO, he leads from the front, managing teams across multiple outlets and ensuring that every serving meets the brand’s uncompromising standards. From sourcing only the finest ingredients to enforcing rigorous hygiene and quality checks, Sandeep’s commitment is clear: every plate of Covai Anganan biriyani must live up to its name — rich in taste, steeped in tradition, and crafted with care.

With his unique blend of adventurous spirit and operational discipline, Sandeep ensures that Covai Anganan delivers not just food, but an experience worthy of its heritage.

Gaurav Kapoor is a business leader with over 15 years of global experience across technology, banking, real estate and F&B. He has held leadership roles including CEO of Tristar Accommodations, MD of Raga Corporate Investments and Director of Covai Anganan Biriyani House, driving growth and diversification. His career spans top global firms like Citi and Credit Suisse alongside entrepreneurial ventures in India and abroad. Holding degrees in engineering, business analytics, and law, he combines strategic vision with cross-industry expertise to create and scale innovative business models.
